Essex Visitor Information

Full of quaint villages with a scenic coastline, much of Essex sits within London's commuter belt.

Places to see while here should include England's longest seaside pier at Southend. At 1.34 miles long, there is a train that runs along it for those who can’t manage the walk to the Pier’s end fish and chip restaurant!

Colchester is one of the oldest recorded towns in Britain. Its castle was built in the eleventh century and now houses a museum...an improvement from when it was a prison back in the seventeenth century. For more history, head over to the Layer Marney Tower, the areas most famous of landmarks and Tudor gatehouse built during the reign of Henry VIII.
